Melanie J. Brown
Electronic Resources and Instruction Librarian
Melanie Brown joined the Law Library faculty in 2026 after a year as a research fellow at BYU Law, where her research centered on wills and trusts. Before entering academia, she practiced in estate planning and small business matters at Callister, Broberg & Becker in Southern California. Brown was previously a staff attorney in the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition, where she worked on antitrust enforcement in pharmaceuticals and other healthcare products and services. Prior to attending law school, she was a copyright editor for college textbooks.
Brown holds a BA from BYU, a JD and LLM from Columbia Law School, and an MA in library and information studies from University College London. Her research interests include wills and trusts, intellectual freedom, access to information, and the intersection of these areas with religious liberty.
